“In order to be irreplaceable one must always be different.” Coco Chanel born on this date in 1883.

Author and Civil Rights Activist James Baldwin

On this date in 1958 the “King of Mambo” Perez Prado topped the charts with “Patricia”.

MADMEN returns this evening and with it the long suffering (or to some insufferable) wife of bad man Don Draper the beautiful “Betts” Draper played by American actress January Jones. This caricature was extremely challenging as Betty’s thoughts and emotions are often well hidden behind her seemingly stoic, suburban housewife facade. In this drawing she looks pretty well ticked off at Don Draper and probably with very good reason.

Christina Hendricks is best known for her portrayal of the brilliant and stunning  Joan Holloway on TV’s MADMEN.

Drawn here as the suave anti-hero Don Draper of the hit series MADMEN, John Hamm returns in this role in 10 days on AMC.

This is the first in what will be many posts featuring my caricatures or sketches of notable persons both contemporary and historical. My first caricature is that of noted Swedish film director Ingmar Bergman born on this date in 1918.
